Fashion Week has come and gone, I am just getting out the winter coats, and here it is already time to think about the colors that will anchor the 2010 Jackie's Hat Box Collection.

Taking my inspiration from the Spring 2010 Pantone color offerings, I plan to continue using a lot of tone-on-tone colors to keep things rich and timeless, while also working in some classic contrasting combinations for those gals who want to have a little fun with their hats.

Here are the anchor colors for the Spring Collection, just to get you mad about millinery, too!

Ladies Day at Devon Hat Contest

Hold onto your hats! Or, if you still need a hat...go get one quick!

The annual Ladies Day at Devon Hat Contest is coming up. Next Wednesday, May 27th from 1-3 at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair!

This year's three categories are: "Best Botanical", "Most Creative" and "Most glamorous from hat to toe."

Entering the hat contest is easy! Registration begins at 1, judging at 1:30 and winners will be announced by 2.

The winners in each category will enjoy a Cartier champagne reception high atop the Devon grandstands with this year's fabulous judges Carson Kressley, Caroline O'Halloran of Main Line Suburban Life and Cristiane Sa from Polo Ralph Lauren. Treats from Kiehl's and Neiman Marcus, too!

One of my favorite projects from this time last year was a hat that went to the Derby.

My client wore her hat on her flight down and said that there were a lot of other hats on the plane! Easier than checking...

The best part is that my client placed a bet and won the trifecta, and went home with more than $80K.

I am a lucky lady...my mom saw Carson Kressley on QVC last week and ordered me a jacket from his line, "Perfect." And so it is! A perfect little topper in bright spring and summer colors that is going to pair up well with white jeans, dark brown, pink, yellow...and I am thinking gold shoe and bag.

If you're a QVC virgin, you have to try Carson's line. Fair prices and wonderful detailed clothing. My little jacket is fully lined and has neat buttons and I'm looking forward to taking it out on the town!

Maybe I will make a hat just to go with my new find. A little Jackie's Hat Box action would make it truly Perfect.

My flip flops are at the front door, ready to shuffle on out for some fun. Soon enough, they will be my shoe of choice for the next four months.

Whereas I might have let my toe maintenance slide a little (like going a week or two too long without a root touch up) over the winter, I have now resolved to resume my every 3 week pedicure schedule as not to offend those who will be exposed to my exposed feet.

It's not because I dig the luxury of a pedicure or enjoy having to sit still for 30 minutes and then dry...it's because I feel that when my toes are painted I have my act together.

10 little reminders that even if my hair's a mess and my makeup of the day is chapstick, my toes are always dressed.

The color of choice? OPI's Big Apple Red. It looks good on everyone from fairskinned to tan and is quite appropriate for all four seasons. You can't go wrong--it's not too orange or too blue...it's just right!

So...will you be wearing a hat this Sunday? I will, and I will probably be the only one in church wearing one. Doesn't stop me, though, because I think Easter is one of the most hat-worthy occasions out there.

There's even a song about it... "In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, you'll be the prettiest baby in the Easter parade!"

As if that's not reason enough!

It's April, the days are getting warmer, sunnier and longer...and the invitations are arriving daily. Wonderful ladies' luncheons and outings that are just begging for a hat!
